Waris Shah
Not to be confused with Waris Ali Shah, the Indian Sufi saint.
Pir Waris Shah (Punjabi: وارث شاہ (Shahmukhi); 1722 – 1798) was an 18th-century Punjabi MuslimSufi poet of the Chishti order, known popularly for his contribution to Punjabi literature.[2][1]

He is primarily known as the author of the Heer Ranjha love poem.
It's about one of the most popular tragic romances of Punjab. Traditionally, this love poem is recited in bhairaviraga and this continues to be done even today.[3][4]
